Project 029
Name: Hexscript
Purpose: To communicate with the visitors
My creations and I have been observing the group of [living things] that have arrived five lunar cycles ago. They call themselves Humans and they are not native to this world. They fascinate me, but communication with them has been difficult. They keep their distance, and they don't speak in [unknown language].
What fascinates me the most is how they speak. They all speak in one common language, yet some of them can speak multiple distinct languages. I've been listening closely to each language spoken, trying to comprehend as much as I can. I don't think they will be able to speak [unknown language], so I will make a scripture for them to communicate with me. They seem intelligent, so I trust that they can decipher it.
I will use this language as a base. I heard some of the humans call this language Spanish. I love Spanish. Its usage of [vowels] and its structure is easy to comprehend. This will make for a good basis for the script. Now what to use for the lettering?
...
I know. Hexagons are an interesting shape and are easy to recreate. I will use hexagons as the basis for the lettering. Some words in this language use an accent for their pronunciation. This can be easily replicated with a simple slash near the top.
The language seems to use single dots to denote the end of a sentence. I will add a dot in the language to denote an ending of a sentence. I'm not sure why Spanish has these letters upside down, but they seem important for the language's structure. I will replicated that with similar symbols and denote them as such.
And that's it. This is the basis for my scripture. I still need time to better understand the languages that they speak, but I think I can start by writing simple phrases.
...
Hmm... I will have to bring this slab to a location that the Humans will visit often. I haven't considered that. I suppose I'll place it in the outskirts of the forest near their base.
[Addendum found]
It has been several days since the Humans have discovered my written language for them. They seem to be interested in deciphering it, with some of them even giving it a name. The common consensus between them is to call it a "Hexscript". I love that name. I think I shall adopt that name when next we interact. I hope this will mark the beginning of a beloved coexistence.
